1. The 3 linguistics conferences in Beijing


  2. The GLOW-in-Asia Conference is held in coordination with two other events occurring at nearby Peking University: The TEAL-6 Workshop and the Zhu-Lu Symposium.  Each event is organized and run as an independent event however, so abstract submission and/or registration must be dealt with directly with the organizing committee of each event. The dates are coordinated as follows:


  3. August 12-14: GLOW-in-Asia VIII (at BLCU)

  4. August 15: TEAL-6 Workshop (at PKU)

  5. August 16: joint excursion of Beijing and vicinity possibly with evening cultural event

  6. August 17-18: Zhu-Lu Symposium (at PKU)

  7. Both the GLOW conference and the TEAL workshop are conducted in English only, while the Zhu-Lu symposium is conducted primarily in Chinese.  GLOW conference participants are encouraged to stay through the TEAL workshop on 8/15 and join the excursion on 8/16. 


  8. The TEAL-6 Workshop will feature presentations of original papers dealing with issues of East Asian (and South East Asian) linguistics from the perspective of theoretical linguistics.  For more details please visit the workshop’s home page here.


  9. The Zhu-Lu Symposoium in commemoration of the 90th birth year of the late Professor Zhu Dexi and in celebration of the 50th year of teaching of Professor Lu Jianming, both of the Department of Chinese, Peking University.  Details are the symposium at published at the web site here.


  10. These events are held also as part of a celebration of the 100th year of the founding of the PKU’s Chinese Department and of the PKU’s offer of honorary doctoral degree to Professor Noam Chomsky.
