The Center for Linguistic Theory, Beijing Language and Culture University, is proud to announce that it will host the 8th Conference of the Generative Linguistics in the Old World (Asia), on August 12-16, 2010 in Beijing, China. 


We are honored that Professor Noam Chomsky will be the keynote speaker of the conference.


We cordially invite submission of abstracts representing original research dealing with current issues in all areas of generative theoretical linguistics. Please go to the relevant links on the left for detailed information and instructions for online abstract submission. Please also check back for updates as new information becomes available.


The GLOW-in-Asia VIII conference will be held in coordination with two other events being held at nearby Peking University:  the 6th Workshop on Theoretical East Asian Linguistics (TEAL-6 Workshop)  on August 15-16, and a symposium commemorating the 90th birth year of Professor Zhu Dexi and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Professor Lu Jianming’s teaching (the Zhu-Lu Symposium). 


Important dates:


  1. March 15, 2010: deadline for submission of abstracts (submission may begin as early as December 15, 2009).

  2. May 1, 2010: notification of acceptance.

  3. August 12-14: GLOW-in-Asia 8 Conference
