嘉宾简介:

n梅赛德斯·斯蒂芬森(M. Mercedes Stephenson

梅赛德斯·斯蒂芬森(M. Mercedes Stephenson)拥有美国密苏里州圣路易斯大学的博士学位,现为韦伯斯特大学的兼职教授。她有超过三十年的教学经验,有着在中学、社区学院和大学任教的丰富经历;斯蒂芬森教授会定期给未来的外语教师进行授课与指导,开发新的课程项目,并经常参加专业会议与研讨会,发表关于外语教学方法、文化教学以及贫困学生教育等方面的见解;在韦伯斯特大学任教期间,她曾深入大学生活的方方面面进行工作,包括对见习教师进行督导。她的研究兴趣在于拉丁裔人群以及英语学习者,并开展相关的研究课题与口译项目。她的教学理念是以口语交际为中心,积极主动地学习,与学生保持联络,在她所有的课程中建设学习社区。

n何洁

北京语言大学汉语学院教师,曾任美国南卡罗莱纳大学孔子学院汉语教师,教授初级汉语综合、英汉翻译、口译等课程;北京语言大学语言学及应用语言学专业博士,研究领域为形式句法、儿童语言习得、汉语国际教育;曾获北京语言大学第六届青年教师教学基本功比赛三等奖、最受学生欢迎奖。



This lecture will focus on the communicative aspects of language and how to incorporate interactive activities in a successful lesson plan.

About the speakers:

 

nM. Mercedes Stephenson

M. Mercedes Stephenson, Ph.D., St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO, is an Adjunct Full Professor at Webster University. Her teaching experience of more than thirty years includes high school, community college and university levels.

She regularly teaches, mentors future foreign language teachers, develops new programs and presents on foreign language methodology, the teaching of culture and the education of under-privileged students at professional meetings and conferences.

During her tenure at Webster University, she has worked in all aspects of university life, including the supervision of student teachers. Her interest in Latino populations and English Language Learners has sparked ongoing research projects as well as interpretation activities. Her teaching philosophy is centered on oral communication, active learning, connecting with students and developing learning communities in all her classes.

 

nHE Jie

He Jie is currently a teacher at the School of Chinese Studies at Beijing Language and Culture University. She was formerly a Chinese language teacher at the Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina, where she taught courses in entry-level comprehensive Chinese, English-Chinese translation and interpretation. She has a PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Beijing Language and Culture University. Her research interests include formal syntax, children’s language acquisition, and international Chinese language education. She was awarded the Third Prize and the Most Popular Teacher Award in the 6th Young Teachers’ Basic Teaching Skills Competition held by Beijing Language and Culture University.
