A great deal of recent scholarship in the West has given attention to the subject of ‘secularization’and what this precisely means in a very largely, traditionally Christian society. Following Charles Taylor’s major work of 2007,A Secular Age, which perceives secularity in the West as characterized not so much by the absence of religion as by the continuing multiplication of new options, religious, spiritual and sometimes anti-religious, this paper will consider the contribution of creative literature to these on-going religious debates, and the relevance of this contribution to the expansion of these debates onto the map of world religious and in the newer Christian communities beyond the traditional boundaries of ‘Western Christendom.’
