Of nearly 100 teaching staff of the College, more than 30 are
professors or associate professors, and over 50 are lecturers.
They are all very much experienced in teaching Chinese to overseas
students and their effective instructions have been enjoying
enormous popularity among the students for decades. The Chinese
teaching materials they compiled have been widely used by universities
and other Chinese-teaching organizations worldwide. Quite a
few teachers have been invited to lecture abroad or in universities
of Hong Kong and Macao.
The College provides the students with a good learning environment.
In addition to the ordinary classrooms, there are also language
laboratories, multi-media classrooms and computer classrooms.
All the equipment will enable you to hear and see the various
teaching materials clearly. The multi-use classroom building
creates a comfortable environment for you.
The College also offers the students various courses to meet
their needs. Besides the compulsory courses, there are more
than 40 optional courses. Students at different levels can select
the elementary、intermediate、advanced courses with great flexibility according to their own interest.
After the conclusion of one term’s study, the students can re-select
their courses. After they finish the study of the selected courses
and acquire the required credit points, the students will be
granted certificates for further studies on Chinese at different
levels.
The College provides you with courses at
various levels and of different types. You enjoy entire freedom
to select them based on your Chinese level and interest.
Elementary Chinese Training
Courses 
Training Levels:
A. For students having not learned any Chinese
(Elementary level one)
B. For students having learned Pinyin and mastered about 200
words (Elementary level one)
C. For students having learned Chinese and mastered about 600
words (Elementary level two)
Teaching Objectives:
A. For students of category A, after they
conclude one school-year’s study and acquire the required credit
points, they are supposed to have a vocabulary of 1900-2100
words and complete the grammar study at the elementary phase.
B. For students of category B, after they conclude one school-year’s
study and acquire the required credit points, they are supposed
to have a vocabulary of 2200-2400 words and finish learning
the grammar of the elementary phase and basic lexical usage.
C. For students of category C, after they conclude one school-year’s
study and acquire the required credit points, they are supposed
to have a vocabulary of 2800-3000 words and finish learning
the grammar of the elementary phase and part of the grammar
and vocabulary of the intermediate phase.
Training Hours: The first term will last for
20 weeks; the second 20 weeks, altogether for 40 weeks (one
school-year). There are 18-20 teaching hours of lectures per
week, altogether 720-800 teaching hours.

Beginners at level 1 will be granted the Certificate for Elementary
Chinese Training after having concluded one school year’s study and
acquired the required 32 credit points .
Beginners at level 2 will be granted the Certificate for Quasi-intermediate
Chinese Training after they have concluded one school year’s study and
acquired the required 28 credit points .
Note: Courses with * mark commence every February.
Intermediate Chinese Training Courses 
Training Levels:
A. For students having mastered about 2000 words (Intermediate level one)
B. For students having mastered about 3000 words (Intermediate level two)
Teaching Objectives:
A. For students of category A, after they conclude one school-year’s study and acquire the required credit points, they are supposed to have a vocabulary of 4500 words or so and finish learning the grammar and lexical usage of the intermediate phase.
B. For students of category B, after they conclude one school-year’s study and acquire the required credit points, they are supposed to have a vocabulary of 6000 words or so and finish learning the grammar and lexical usage of the intermediate phase and part of the grammar and vocabulary of the advanced phase.
Training Hours: The first term will last for 20 weeks;
the second 20 weeks, altogether for 40 weeks (one school-year). There
are 12-20 teaching hours per week, altogether 480-800 teaching hours.

Students at intermediate level one will be granted the Certificate for
Intermediate Chinese Training after they conclude one school-year’s
study and acquire 24 credit points as required.
Students at intermediate level two will be granted the Certificate for
Pre-advanced Chinese Training after they conclude one school-year’s
study and acquire 24 credit points as required.
Advanced Chinese Training Courses 
Training Levels: For students having mastered about
4500 words.
Teaching Objectives: After they conclude one academic
year's study and acquire the required credit points, they are supposed
to have a vocabulary of 8000 words or so and vocabulary、discourse、rhetoric
of the advanced phase.
Training Hours: One academic year contains two terms,
the first term will last for 20 weeks. and the second term will last
for 20 weeks, 40 weeks in total. There are 12-18 teaching hours per
week, altogether 480-720 teaching hours.
